It is less than three weeks to go before our HOPE AGUA VITA mission begins in barrio San Lorenzo and we are still in need of funds to help with the rebuild efforts. While the hurricane damaged almost all the homes in Puerto Rico, the financial impact is just as devastating. There is not enough money to cover the rebuild and those who qualify for FEMA insurance are getting only a portion of what they need.
Nancy, a San Lorenzo resident has helped us on our past missions with a warm heart, open smile and willingness to lend a hand wherever needed. And we are glad to call her friend. The emergency insurance Nancy received from FEMA barely covers half the cost of the concrete foundation and floor, with no money left to build her actual house. We’re going back to rebuild Nancy’s house and we need your help to cover the materials cost for her home. Every dollar helps.
In addition, we are being joined by Sarah Stephenson from the engineering department at the University of Western. We will be demonstrating new construction techniques to create more hurricane resistant homes. We will also be sharing these same techniques which can be applied to build more resilient homes right here in Ontario and Canada. You can help us rebuild Nancy’s home by contributing to our page at https://ca.gofundme.com/hope-agua-vita . You can reach us at contact@HOPEAGUAVITA.com if you are interested in sponsorship opportunities for your business. Please share!
